| 1. Scientists at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati have created a new material that can find kerosene in gasoline and clean up oil spills in water bodies at the same time. The new substance, which is called a Phase-Selective Organogelator (PSOG), promises to be an affordable and environmentally benign way to keep gasoline safe and safeguard the environment. भारतीय तंत्रज्ञान संस्था (IIT) गुवाहाटी येथील शास्त्रज्ञांनी एक नवीन पदार्थ तयार केला आहे जो पेट्रोलमध्ये रॉकेल शोधू शकतो आणि त्याच वेळी जलसाठ्यांमध्ये तेल गळती साफ करू शकतो. फेज-सिलेक्टिव्ह ऑर्गनोजेलेटर (PSOG) नावाचा हा नवीन पदार्थ पेट्रोल सुरक्षित ठेवण्यासाठी आणि पर्यावरणाचे रक्षण करण्यासाठी एक परवडणारा आणि पर्यावरणीयदृष्ट्या अनुकूल मार्ग असल्याचे आश्वासन देतो. |
| 2. At 12:40 pm IST on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, a little earthquake with a magnitude of 3.6 hit the Dima Hasao area of Assam. The earthquake started roughly 30 km below the surface, with the epicentre at 25.19°N, 92.92°E. | 3. At the 6th National Water Awards 2024, Maharashtra was voted the best state in the “Best State” category for its great work in managing and conserving water. The Union Ministry of Jal Shakti puts on the awards to honour the best sustainable water resource activities in India. | 5. In a big diplomatic move, “India and Nepal” are going to start high-level “border coordination talks” again on Wednesday. This would be the first time these talks have happened since the “Gen-Z-led protests” in September that brought down the “Oli government” in Kathmandu. | 6. India has moved up in the most recent Global Climate Risk Index (CRI) from Germanwatch. This shows that the country is becoming more climate resilient, even if it is still exposed to extreme weather occurrences. The country is presently 9th in the long-term index (1995–2024) and 15th in the 2024 yearly index. | 7. Sergio Gor is now officially the US Ambassador to India. This is a big step in Washington’s diplomatic relationship with New Delhi. The 38-year-old ambassador took the oath of office in the Oval Office, with President Donald Trump presiding over the ceremony. | 8. On November 13 and 14, Coimbatore will host a two-day defence summit at the Codissia Trade Fair Complex. The event will bring together industry executives, defence stakeholders, and policymakers.
