| 1. India is having more and more trouble with climate change and plant diseases that could hurt farming. Viruses and other germs kill a lot of crops, which hurts farmers’ income and the quality of the food. The government started the Clean Plant Program (CPP) in August 2024 to deal with this. The goal of CPP is to give farmers planting material that is free of viruses and of good quality, which will lead to healthier crops and higher yields.

| 2. A new type of edible fungus has been found in the East Khasi Hills of Meghalaya, where it rains a lot. The Khasi tribal people have recognized this fungus as Tit iongnah for a long time. It is called Lactifluus khasianus. Modern scientific approaches, such DNA sequencing, validated the discovery. It shows how traditional wisdom and modern science come together in biodiversity studies.

| 3. The Yuan Wang 5, China’s elite espionage ship, is back in the Indian Ocean after three years. India is getting ready for a prospective hypersonic missile launch over the Bay of Bengal, and this news comes at the same time. New Delhi is keeping a careful eye on the ship since it can track satellites and missiles quite well. The placement of Yuan Wang 5 near India’s maritime neighbour has sparked strategic worries.

| 4. The Taliban regime strongly turned down the US’s recent offer to send troops back to Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan. This news comes four years after the U.S. troops left in a chaotic way in 2021, leaving the base in Taliban hands. The Taliban still claim that Afghanistan is a sovereign country and that its borders are safe, even though the economy is still struggling and there are divides inside the country. The matter has also gotten attention from other countries. China has said that Afghanistan should be the one to make decisions about Bagram.

| 5. The 28th National Conference on e-Governance (NCeG) 2025 took place in Vishakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, on September 22 and 23, 2025. The Andhra Pradesh government worked with the Department of Administrative Reforms & Public Grievances (DARPG) and the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY) to put on the event. The theme was “Viksit Bharat—Civil Service and Digital Transformation,” and it was all about how digital innovation can help with public administration and government.

| 6. The introduction of Logistics Data Bank (LDB) 2.0 is a measure India has taken to improve its logistics sector. The Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Shri Piyush Goyal, made this announcement as part of the ten-year-long Make in India celebrations. LDB 2.0 wants to change India’s logistics system by giving people real-time data and making the supply chain work better. It backs with the government’s goal of an economy that is technologically savvy and able to compete in exports.
लॉजिस्टिक्स डेटा बँक (LDB) 2.0 ची सुरुवात ही भारताने आपल्या लॉजिस्टिक्स क्षेत्रात सुधारणा करण्यासाठी उचललेली एक उपाययोजना आहे. केंद्रीय वाणिज्य आणि उद्योग मंत्री श्री. पियुष गोयल यांनी दहा वर्षांच्या मेक इन इंडिया उत्सवाचा भाग म्हणून ही घोषणा केली. | 7. Delhi has begun a short-term study to find out if photocatalytic coatings could help reduce air pollution. The government plans to test surfaces made of titanium dioxide (TiO₂) on roads, walkways, and other public places. The objective of this method is to lower harmful emissions like nitrogen dioxide (NO₂) and hydrocarbons. In 30 days, the Environment department will sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with a scientific group. Next, there will be tests and evaluations in the field. There will be monthly updates on how things are doing, and the last report will be due six months after the MoU is signed.

| 8. Scientists have found a new type of cosmic event that is more stronger than gamma-ray bursts (GRBs). Extreme nuclear transients (ENTs) happen when supermassive black holes at the cores of galaxies tear apart huge stars. ENTs give forth energy that is up to ten times more than GRBs, making them the brightest explosions seen since the Big Bang. This discovery gives us new, important information about how black holes work and the catastrophic events that shape the universe.
